two weeks down
August 25, 2017 • College Life
And in those eleven days I've met more people/introduced myself to than all of my 4 years of high school put together...yes you read that right. I meet at least 4 people a day. Its defiantly been a learning experience for me, and I love it. I told myself before arriving on campus that this opportunity of attending college I will not be taking lightly, not even in the slightest bit.
Friday through Tuesday I was doing the Activate Leadership conference. It was one, an opportunity to move in a week earlier than everyone else and be introduced to the campus PLUS attending leadership sessions. I would highly recommend this to an incoming freshmen attending OSU, especially if you are wanting to expand your horizons right of the bat.
Through this conference I attended seminars roamed campus and met some awesome leaders and friends. Shout out to Kyle (our group leader) for giving our group the real lay-down on how to be a successful student versus just trying to get to know us.
Through this conference I met Mattie! She is an Okie and I am beyond thankful for her. We have bonded over so much in such a small amount of time! She knows so many people, it's so funny to walk around campus with her because she runs into a different friend every time! She has introduced me to a lot of people!
On Wednesday Activate teamed up with the OSU Sustainability for move-in day and helped with recycling card board boxes versus just trashing them. We made such a huge difference this year and I can't wait to see the recognition the school gets from it.
Now that was a long day it was SO HOT outside!! But well worth it. After we wrapped up Activate with a banquet.
On Thursday WELCOME WEEK activities started! Things got real here; as everyone was now on campus and I look in every direction and there are so many people that could one day be in my life and or never speak to or see ever again. Scary stuff right there if you ask me.
I attended Phired Up, Resource fair, ministry discovery seminar, a study harder seminar, the library lawn party, BCM worship night and Convocation.
I had a very full schedule and it was SO much fun!
I was so worried that my options with finding a school ministry or a new church home would be limited but that is SO not the case here! I won't go into too much detail yet but I am excited to see where God leads me.
So many older girls in different campus ministries have been texting me and inviting me to events and I went to have coffee with some and some us went downtown to the local food truck fair!
On Sunday we had a 'party' on the field. We really just took our class picture in 90 degree weather for about 30 minutes and then we got to sit in the bleachers and learn football tradition and chants. It was a lot of fun! I am so excited for football season!!
And finally Monday was the first day of school! Boy was I nervous, but I truly had nothing to worry
about. I made to every class on time (some a little too early, were talking like 30 min. early, LOL) and I didn't get lost!! Yay, Go Me!
I LOVE THIS CAMPUS AND THE NEW FAMILY I AM APART OF!
Dorm sweet dorm

Wow! I'm all moved in!
Check- in time was at 5 pm and we hauled stuff into my dorm until about 8:30.
When we started to unpack I was completely and utterly overwhelmed. I couldn't really picture myself living here, I was so distracted by how dingy and old the room was lol.
My dad and brother went to the store to get cleaning supplies, while my mom and I stated to crack down putting my decorations up. Sadly half of my decorations wouldn't stick to the walls because of the type of paint on them... super glue to the rescue (shhh please don't tell my RA)!! This part was so frustrating because they also removed our dorm closet doors, but all is well I made it work.
After my family left I kept going hard on trying to finish my room, the mess was driving me INSANE!
*mug courtesy of BFF Fallon*I am so thankful for all the storage space my dorm has, it was a nice surprise and is definitely serving its purpose with everything I own!
The funny part about this wall sticker is that it was ruined by the heat and the vinyl came off wrong and it was very frustrating. So the whole time I was putting it on the wall my mom was jokingly saying 'all is well' and I realized this sticker is going to be a good reminder for me everyday!
I wanted to share everything I did to get prepared for move-in day but that is a whole other post that will be coming soon!
If you have any questions on where I got anything just comment down below!
So for now here is the final product!!

getting adjusted
August 11, 2017 • College Life
I am starting this post at 11:30 p.m. the night of move-in day... most unorganized day of my life.
Not to scare anyone off if you are younger but if you have experienced dorm life you know exactly what I am talking about when I say dorm is 'dingy'.
I am not really sure what I expected my dorm to be like. I mean I knew it wasn't going to be pretty or HGTV worthy (I will make my room super cute! I've been waiting for this for like EVER), but man is it UGLY! The walls were once painted blue and then painted over it with cream and plastered in many areas incorrectly. Like okay, okay not too shabby. But wait there's more! My school decided not to inform me that my dorms closets no longer include doors so there goes half my decor out the window, ugh. That part really bummed me out, OH and did I mention I am on the 12th floor of a 12 story building... that was built in like the 70's??? Either way do you catch my drift here?
Hahah, God has got a funny way of pushing my buttons and you would think this isn't bad at all but to me this is ALL new. I've never shared a room before, let alone a bathroom with more than just my brother.
I really thought about it and talked to God and through all of this I am learning gratefulness. I mean I truly am! I am thanking God everyday I have a bed, running water available to me and a decent means of living! I ashamed to think I deserve more. Because I don't.
Getting adjusted will be difficult I know this and I knew this months ago, but thats just the easy part of all of this.
I've cried at least 10 times today.
I laughed my butt off with my mom trying to decorate my room.
I said many goodbyes.
I bonded with my family.
I survived my first shower in a community bathroom, it wasn't bad at all; plus the girl next to be played some good tunes in the bathroom!!
God you have provided and I am thankful.
My friends and family mean the world to me.
I had at least 5 people FaceTime me asking if I was getting adjusting well and praying over me, I am beyond blessed to say the least.
I can't wait to post the final product of my room! And meet my roommate next week!!
with love, Celine
